13 August 2014 – Victor Chick, Chairman of SAFRA Photographic Club, clarified that although Mr. Guek Peng Siong is the Vice Chairman of SAFRA Photographic Club, but Mr. Guek Peng Siong chose to enter into this business venture in his personal capacity and his subsequent actions in the business dispute is a result of his own decisions. I would also like to take this opportunity to further clarify that this is not a business venture between myself and SAFRA Photographic Club or Bedok Constituency, this business dispute is purely personal.

Throughout my photography journey, I’ve met all kinds of photographers. Some came into my life with hidden agenda, some attempted to ruin my jobs and some went all out to damage my brand and reputation, but there’s really nothing like this one. Of course, I have also met talented photographers who live up to my expectations and I really value them, and I will do everything I can to retain them.
So what about those who screwed up? Well, over the years I’ve learnt to take things easy and I always refrain from starting a shaming campaign whenever possible because I know it doesn’t really make me a better person and by doing so, there’s a high chance that I may be perceived as a bully but this case definitely warrants an exception, especially so when their existence could prove detrimental to the entire photography community at large.
I was hesitant at first because I know this is going to shock, not just our mutual friends, but also, the local photography community as the duo who were embroiled in this business dispute are Guek Peng Siong (GPS), the current Vice Chairman of SAFRA Photographic Club and Tang Yen Nee (Yenny/Yanni), a grassroots committee member of Bedok Constituency. They own PS Culture, Guek Services and Paper Culture.
To set the record straight, this partnership was only offered to GPS in November 2013 as he told me his job was insecure and he needed money but this woman (Yenny/Yanni) sticked her nose into our partnership and as in to why GPS allowed this to happen is really beyond me.
Anyway, here’s a very brief summary of the business dispute over a 3D2N photography tour to Mount Bromo from 1 May 2014 to 3 May 2014, which I had allowed GPS to lead and market under my brand to help him make some money, but it turns out to be the worst decision I’ve ever made in this lifetime.
The partnership was formed in Nov 2013 and by April 2014, GPS only managed to find 5 participants for his tour, a far cry from the 20 participants that he assured me that he would be able to achieve in Nov 2013 and when he knew he wasn’t going to make enough money from his tour due to low sign ups, he expressed his intention to cut me off completely just so he could cover his own cost.¬†
Despite being disgusted by their incessant lying and unethical behavior, I was still willing to give my all to help them by absorbing all their possible losses, giving in to their unreasonable requests and also to guarantee their profit knowing that I would lose money by doing so, but what they did next really sent a chill down my spine.
For a tour that was going to commence in 2 days’ time, not only did they refused to complete a payment that they had agreed to make, but they also published a false and defamatory statement about me to all their participants to damage my brand and reputation. Then they misappropriated the payments that were rightfully mine and proceeded to lead the tour without my authorization, and maliciously conducted the tour by going against my wishes and by plagiarizing other reputable photographer’s concept during the tour to further damage my brand. But despite what they did to me, I still refused to take legal actions against them in hope that they would self-reflect and realize their mistakes, but they showed no remorse or signs of guilt.
Both of them filed a claim against me via Small Claims Tribunal, on 17 June 2014, over payments that they had made knowing it’s fully non-refundable, over a cancellation decision that I’ve made due to them defaulting in full payment, over a tour that they had led without my permission, and over a tour that they had willfully and maliciously conducted to damage my brand and reputation. The claim amount was more than S$2500 and my face contorted into an expression of massive confusion when I saw their claim form and what happened next was even more shocking and disturbing.
Before any judgment is passed, Yenny/Yanni¬†contacted one of my biggest photography clients in her capacity as a grassroots committee member of Bedok Constituency. She brought up our business dispute along with their claims, to my client’s attention and her attempt to take one of my biggest photography jobs away from me is obvious here. When my client told Yenny/Yanni that they would verify with me, Yenny/Yanni advised them NOT to do so. Both GPS and Yenny/Yanni¬†had also contacted other clients of mine, but their messages were ignored. They also called ACRA up to initiate an investigation on me as they alleged that I’ve been dealing with my clients using an unregistered company name. And once again, before ACRA completed its investigations, Yenny/Yanni¬†warned my biggest client against using my photography services. I offered ACRA my fullest cooperation and after their investigations, ACRA confirmed that I did not breach any part of the Company Act and no enforcement actions were taken.
On 25 June 2014, an order was made towards their favor in SCT and I was ordered to pay them a sum of more than S$2500 because I was absent from the consultation session, with good reasons of course. And I can’t believe I’ve wasted a few days of my life over their groundless claims but the outcome made it all worthwhile.
On 07 August 2014, their claims, along with the order that was made towards their favor, were thrown out of SCT and discontinued. I was also advised by the judge to engage my own lawyer because SCT has no power to hear my claims as it’s not within its jurisdiction. After the judgement was passed and right before the judge, I looked at them into their eyes and told them about my plans to make a public post on this case, and I asked them if they have anything to add or say, but they avoided direct eye contact and remained silent.
So I hope you understand now why a public post on this dispute is necessary to restore my reputation, and public confidence and trust in my brand because both of them have proved to be capable of doing everything they can to destroy my reputation, and everything in their power to take my biggest photography jobs away from me over a partnership decision that I’ve made to help GPS to make more money.
I’ve also exhausted all means to resolve this issue with the duo. They refused to meet up and talk when things went wrong, they refused to negotiate and they only have their own interests at heart. They refused to clarify our issues in front of those who are involved and chose to mislead the rest behind my back.
Reasonable steps were taken to ensure everything I’ve written here and in the documents are accurate, fair and balanced. Here’s a timeline of the steps taken:
21 Apr 2014 – They first knew about my intention to do this and Yenny/Yanni gave the green light to go ahead after reviewing what I was going to post, but I didn’t proceed because I’ve not heard from GPS yet.
23 Jul 2014 РI sent an email to GPS, Yenny/Yanni and all their 5 participants to inform them about my intention to create this post. The documents which I wanted to make available for public viewing were also attached for them to review and they were also encouraged to speak up.
07 Aug 2014 – After the judgment was passed and right before the judge, I informed them again about my decision to create this public post and gave GPS and Yenny/Yanni an opportunity to speak up and clarify but they remained in silence.
08 Aug 2014 –¬†I emailed GPS, Yenny/Yanni and all their 5 participants to inform them that the duo’s claim and order have been thrown out of SCT and discontinued. Another document named “SCT – Evidence of Character”,¬†was also attached for them to review.
Proof of allegations can be provided upon request if you’re doing a background check on them.¬†
And after having followed me to at least 3 of my astrophotography tours and workshops since 2012, with all his expenses and airfare fully paid, GPS claims that he did his own research to perfect his astrophotography skills.
Currently, GPS is actively giving photography talks and workshops, like as if nothing has happened. Do you think a man of questionable integrity like him is fit to continue to be the Vice Chairman of SAFRA Photographic Club moving forward? Do you think the woman in question (Yenny/Yanni Tang), who lies incessantly and defamed me, and attempted to take my livelihood away from me through unethical means, is fit to continue to be a grassroots committee member of Bedok Constituency?
15 Aug 2014¬† – GPS wrote that he’s not rich enough while Yenny/Yanni wrote that she has no time, to act to clear their names. So, my post will remain fair, balanced and accurate until proven wrong. Funny thing is both GPS and Yenny/Yanni¬†somehow managed to find time to visit Small Claims Tribunal (SCT) on at least 4 occasions, between June and August, to file and pursue their small claim against me, but now they’re unwilling to find time to pursue what could be a windfall to them if they win the defamation suit against me. My suggestion is GPS should borrow some money from Yenny/Yanni to proceed, since GPS has the time and Yenny/Yanni has the money. What say you?

HERE COMES THE BEST PART
My question to Guek Peng Siong: You don’t believe in the court then you went Small Claims Tribunal for?
17 Aug 2014¬†– The only worse thing than to speak up is not to speak up and allowing others to speculate. Publicity is only considered bad and detrimental when nothing is being done to restore the public confidence. SAFRAPC has decided to stay clear and not get involved in this dispute and so, evidences to support my allegations against GPS are not submitted. While I cannot fathom how Guek Peng Siong’s unethical acts and his involvement in a plan to take my jobs away from me using unethical means are in line with the interest and code of conduct of SAFRAPC, I’m not going to pursue this further for I’ve wasted enough time on the duo. It’s heartening to know that my clients, partners and some friends are standing in solidarity with me to condemn such acts and I wish to thank everyone for your messages and support.
2015 – Yenny/Yanni has also changed her name to Yanni Tang in Facebook and this post has been updated to reflect her new name now. Look at her Facebook username and you will see her original name – https://www.facebook.com/yenny.tang . Why did she change her name? Only god knows.
2016 – Someone sent me this.
